Like the uncommitted delegates to the Republican National Convention, I am a superdelegate by virtue of being a member of my party's national committee. Along with the majority of Tennessee's other members to the Democratic National Committee, the Tennessee Democratic Party's Executive Committee elected me to be the DNC's national committee by virtue of being chairman of our party. Our executive committee is composed of one woman and one man from each state senatorial district in Tennessee, and these hard-working folks appear on the ballot every four years.
